November Rut In Full Swing
The Rut is on in Illinois. Big Bucks are cruising for does. Many areas are fresh with scrapes and rubs outlining competing big buck territories. Usually the prime time for the rut in Illinois is the second to third week of November. This year with the cooler temperatures the rut is in full swing a little bit earlier. Time for all hunters who dream of tagging a monster buck is now. The rut is one of the few times the mature buck is not on his guard as usual. His senses are in tune with the scent of a receptive doe. Find an area with sign such as fresh tree rubs and scrapes close to a trial that intersects between the bedding area and food. This is will be a great ambush point for seeing as many deer as possible. Then getting a chance at the buck of your dreams. Now is the time to be in the woods. Climb a tree, use your scent masking deodorants, wear your camouflage, and spend the time being patient and still. Your chances are definitely greater right now than any other time of the year. Good Luck and Great Hunting.
